The Idaho Department of Finance (IDOF) and Idaho Commission on Aging (ICOA) Senior Fraud and Financial Exploitation Prevention Working Group (SFFEP) is a thought leadership body and advisory group that seeks to bring together financial and senior protection experts to develop policies, frameworks, and solutions that will help better protect Idaho’s senior community from financial crime, exploitation, and illicit financial activity. The goal of the SFFEP is to craft potential solutions that will:
1) Prevent and mitigate the harms of senior financial crimes and exploitation.
2) Improve identification and monitoring of senior financial crimes and exploitation.
3) Propose new or enhanced enforcement, oversight, and protection tools and/or authorities (criminal, civil, and administrative).
4) Develop and recommend resources/strategies for public outreach and education.
5) Recommend more effective incident reporting mechanisms and structures.
By bringing together the most dynamic financial and senior protection leaders the SFFEP will attempt to develop innovative policies and best practices that public, government, and industry stakeholders can potentially use to more effectively protect Idaho’s seniors from the harms of financial crime, exploitation, and illicit financial activity.
